Europe in 15 words (Part 1)

Over the festive period last winter, I flew over to Europe for the first time ever and visited 6 states in 5 countries over a period of 18 days. Hectic as it sounded, I felt like I sufficiently touched base with all the cities I visited in the capacity of a tourist and barely felt the rush - besides perhaps dragging the 20kg luggage everywhere. It has been 3 months 6 months since and my memory is failing me as usual...,
Recently I've been driving bits and pieces of my memories through words/phrases so I thought this was a perfect way of remembering and recalling my experiences.

1. Cold (weather, defo not the people)
Although Singapore usually has cooler weathers in the later parts of the year, my body was still not ready for the cold in Europe.

The cold weather is another excuse for a hot drink

It started with the chilly days in London, escalated to a freezing Amsterdam and finally to snowy Munich/Salzberg. I'm quite a cold-loving person as opposed to heat/beach-loving so I'm totally enjoying the icy temperatures but I'm dreading the inconvenience of piling clothes on for dinner or short grocery trips.

Finally, some snow angels

2. Historical (buildings, festivals, services)
Europe history is all in it's buildings! Sometimes, not even the people have the full knowledge of their countries' past yet you see them all in the structures. You could tell when the monuments were constructed, what/who perpetrated such a construction...

The London Bridge I've been singing through my childhood turns out to be a lie

Amsterdam's slanted structures to counter the "flooding". Apparently, according to the tour guide on our boat ride, Amsterdam has the best technology/ know-how to counter rising waters

Berlin Wall - I seem to favour this 'kick wall' pose a lot as I vaguely remember a similar picture taken in Melbourne...

Salzberg fortress - taken from the POV of a soldier operating the cannon

Eiffel Tower - the iconic structure from a different angle

Notre Dame Cathedral - the interior was even better

Big Ben & the house of Parliament

3. Pasta (Italy wasn't in my itinerary but I somehow ate at least a meal of pasta in every country)

My first pasta meal in Amsterdam was extremely value-for-money

Food was always a highlight of our trips. I've learnt during this trip that the Asian genes in me are strong and constantly instigated me to inclined towards Italian cuisine every other meal.

Another pasta situation, this time, in Munich I presume

I'm pretty sure I ate more pasta that those documented into photos but these should be sufficient reason for me to consider a nice, long trip to Italy to live up to my Pasta Passion!

Too many pictures taken and the posts gets too long and draggy if I continue so I've split the adventures into 5 different posts (since I've been to 5 different countries...)

To be continued...
